I think the first half was our best performance for some time. Unfortunately we were never going to keep Worthing out in the second half with the squad we currently have, but it wasn’t through lack of effort. The lads gave it all they had. Something I witnessed earlier in the season that I hoped I would never see again but did yesterday was when the touch judge (same guy both times) came onto the field and started pushing our players about. An absolute disgrace, I hope he never comes to the Gables again.

I’ve no idea what was going through his head, but he has now run onto the Gables pitch twice this season to get involved by aggressively pushing players and both times caused problems. I hope the incident was filmed and he is reprimanded. |

I’m very pleased to hear that the Westcliff player who was red carded last Saturday against Worthing as part of the ‘Touch judge pushing players around on the pitch incident’ has quite rightly been cleared to play this week, with no ban deemed necessary. Thankfully the incident was recorded on video and what was said by those involved recorded. I’m told that the touch judge in question has written a letter of apology but I would hope that he will face some form of disciplinary enquiry from the referee’s governing body. I’m interested to read the report from the disciplinary hearing once it’s available. Can someone tell me where to find this please. |
