Hartpury 5-0 London Scottish. Hartpury are starting to hold their own in this division whereas LS should just use the rest of their games to build for next season. Unless something amazing happens this is a home banker.
Ampthill 4-0 Jersey. Can the mighty As grind out three wins on the trot? Well yes, I think they can. They got a draw on the island, and Jersey do not appear to be firing on all cylinders right now. But it will be close.
Cornish Pirates 5-1 Nottingham. CPs to win, but I can see Nottingham picking up at least one bonus point.
Ealing 5-0 Coventry. And although Ealing aren't romping every game, they should do enough to score four tries and get a comfortable win.
Richmond 5-2 Bedford. Richmond won at Goldington Road and I can see them doing the double in a high scoring game.

Ampthill v Jersey to be streamed live, eh! Terrific. But it does leave me in a dilemma. Like many others on this board I like to go to games, not watch them on TV. And right now I was planning to go and see my local team Wharfedale play Bourneville out and about in the Yorkshire Dales with my mate, whilst our wives scoured the shops in nearby Grassington. Now what do I do?

Go to rugby then watch the stream later. It's only two quid to watch a Pirates game after it's finished, so I guess it'll be the same for Ampthill.

Hartpury 5 - 0 London Scottish - Yes I can see this being a significant scoreline

Ampthill 4 - 1 Jersey Reds - This should be a great game, very close, Amps have brought in a few key additions .  . car sales obviously booming!!!

Cornish Pirates 5 - 0 Nottingham - Yes a long trip for Notts, CP so strong at home

Ealing 5 - 0 Coventry - Which Ealing turn up? Coventry improving all the time, so will give Ealing a good run for their money.

Richmond 5 - 2 Bedford - No idea with this fixture, lots of points for sure but could go either way.

Ps I think N Hughes playing for Hartpury just pointless . . Hartpury cannot get relegated they have 9 senior mens teams so surely it would be of more benefit to promote one of their youngsters? It seems farcial to me . . are they covering Mr Hughes huge salary? Unless of course Hughes sees Hartpury as his next career move, I think not!

Hartpury 5 - 0 London Scottish - Really, Nathan Hughes? Seriously?
Ampthill 4 - 1 Jersey - The Red's form has seemed to taper off recently, so I'll go with the A's at home.
Cornish Pirates 5 - 0 Nottingham - Nottingham have improved over the course of the year, but not enough to take down Pirates at home.
Ealing 5 - 0 Coventry - I like the Ealing team being put out this week. Interesting to see Willis paired with Hampson for the first time in many moons. Last home game was 4TH OF DECEMBER. Very keen to go.
Richmond 5 - 1 Bedford - Richmond to defend the RAG in an all-homer prediction week for me.

For a moment I felt a surge of optimism as I read the Coventry press release accompanying the team list for Saturday. Only four changes following the brutal game against Hartpury! Then I saw the detail. Four starting changes (2 of them season-ending injuries to first choice  players), and a further six changes on the bench. One new player I've never heard of, several returns, mainly from being dropped, rather than from injuries.
Not the team that would be chosen to take to Ealing. It looks like we'll need a full 80 minutes from Phil Boulton again this week.

Very late predictions this week:
Hartpury 5 v 0 London Scottish - Comfortable home win
Ampthill 1 v 4 Jersey - a very tight game but think Jersey should edge it
Cornish Pirates 5 v 0 Nottingham - In Penzance don’t see any joy for the away team - as per usual
Ealing 5 v 0 Coventry - Ealing haven’t been their usual dominant selves in recent weeks but I would expect them to dominate this one. An upset would be welcome, though!.
Richmond 5 v 1 Bedford - Totally depends on which Bedford shows up. That’s hard to predict a lot of the time!. Having won the reverse fixture I fancy Richmond to upset the odds again.

Hartpury 31 - 31 London Scottish.
3:3 result by my reckoning

Well done London Scottish. Virtually no one predicted anything but 5:0, and until very late on it looked like a 1:5 victory.

OK, Hughes got a try  but delighted to see the result that no one predicted.

Well done the Scots. This again shows the ludicrous nature of the dual reg/ loan system in the Championship. A premiership/international backrow of Nathan Hughes and Mitch Eadie could not better a Scots backrow who last week versus Richmond looked National One standard if that. Shows what playing for a shirt in which you have some investment can produce as opposed to just getting some game time with guys who's names you are still learning.

You just said the same players last week were national one standard. Were they not invested in the shirt for that game?

Scottish deserved to win this IMO and probably should of. Too many pens conceded by Pury, the uncontested scrums for the last 20 or so mins were due to several injuries for the home side. As for the duel reg/loan players you refer to, no it does not always pay. Our game became very disjointed particular when the injuries kicked in.  Not forgetting Scottish had a few ex Hartpury in the squad. A final red time conversion from James Williams out near touch levelled the game leaving Scottish gutted. As a regular at Hartpury you never know what your going to get.

Scottish scum was very dominant, to the point 3 Hartpury props  and 1 hooker went off injured- going uncontested benefitted the home side. as it halted the stream of pens.

Last week hurt the Scots badly and (bar the 1st 10 mins) they played with some real fire!  Only an excellent wide conversion saved Hartpury.

Both sides make good use the D/R & loan system so I'm not sure that's a relevant argument on this occasion.

Yes, agree; the way the Reds started there could have been 3 tries in 1st quarter, maybe a BP b4 HT, but instead chances were missed, Amps defended gamely, rode the punches & struck on the counter with a score that could well be try of the week; visitors a wee bit unfortunate to be denied a try right on HT when the ref ruled a maul to be over & blew whistle a just as it regained momentum & hooker touched down.
I’d describe the 2nd half as more even but Reds still had most territory & possession. But again short of points until crucial try with 10 to play. Important win after consecutive losses…

Just watched the match now (best value £2, an absolute bargain!).  Fantastic intensity and was a truly gritty win when it just didn't seem to be our day.  Amp's battled well throughout as you would expect to make it a really exciting game, albeit hugely nail biting!

Any views from Pirates or Nottingham supporters on that match?

Very pleased with 52-17 given then nearly 6 weeks break the squad have had.
Pirates looked a little rusty for the first 30 minutes, despite scoring a couple of early tries out of nothing. We had no go-forward as Nottingham's defense was brilliant for a long period in the first half, repeatedly pushing us back several yards.
A Notts yellow card early in the second half allowed us to play with more width and take advantage of the extra man, something Pirates have a history of failing to do.
From 55 minutes onwards it was a relentless Pirates onslaught, and Notts weren't able to find an answer.

A much needed five points to begin a gruelling run of consecutive fixtures to complete the season.

Fully agree I was happy to pay £7 for each streamed game although the kick off times meant I only saw the second half of the Pirates v Notts game live. The price includes a free replay which I will save until after the end of dry January when my nails have grown back! Two games well worth watching - more streamed games please.

Once upon a time there lived a handsome but ageing rugby supporter. He lived in the lovely Yorkshire Dales with his beautiful wife, and he supported Ampthill RUFC who he once played for, and Wharfedale RUFC, who are his local team now.
One day he was presented with a problem which troubled him deeply. He was going to watch Wharfedale play Bourneville at The Avenue in Threshfield, one of the prettiest grounds in the country. Whilst he was there his lovely wife would go shopping locally in Grassington. But then he learnt that Ampthill were to live stream their game against Jersey at the same time.
His wife noticed he was troubled and asked what was wrong. When he explained everything to his wife she looked at him and said he must not worry about her shopping trip and that he should stay at home and watch the live game. In fact she offered to pop down to the village store and get him some beers and snacks to enjoy during the game.
He thanked his wife, she fetched the beers and snacks, and he watched the game which Ampthill won by fifty points to nil.
And they all lived happily ever after.

And that is the end of that fairy tale.

I actually watched Wharfedale beat Bournville 30-18 in a highly entertaining game with my mate whilst the two wives shopped for England in Skipton. And of course Ampthill didn’t win. And I slipped to 4th in the prediction table. Welcome back to the real world.

Just as you described it on the wireless Islander. Great commentary BTW, as fair to both sides as you could be, especially in the 1st half when the game was almost entirely in the Ampthill half/22, but from your descriptions it sounded as though the home defense was quite superb.
Delighted to get back to winning ways and we have a tough home game against Mond next week. Looking forward to that one!

Hey - Hartpury doesn't deserve that!

I'd say it was more excellent defence by Ampthill than Jersey missing chances.

Jersey had 3 catch and drives that were turned over at the maul or nicked in the line out in the first 30 mins or so.

Jersey didn't fluff anything they just didn't have the game to get over the line for much of the match to the point that, although they were the better side, it looked like Ampthill would win with 10-15 to go.

Shame Harri Morgan limped off after 15 minutes, he could have been a point of difference in the second half

Ampthill scored the try of the match in the first half too, a loose kick by Jersey to the 15 being run all the way in for a try through multiple hands.

I was impressed by how well drilled Jersey were, their ball moved away from the breakdown far quicker than Ampthill's but even then they rarely stretch dates Ampthill defence .

So well matched sides, but the right result if I am being honest, Jersey must have had 60% possession and an even higher % field position.

The non-try on half time was yet another maul turn over for Ampthill in the refs opinion, it was just that Jersey carried on playing after he'd blown up and Ampthill didn't

I feel I gave Ampthill due credit in my comments above, including the superb try in the first half. As I predicted, it went on to win try of the week, gaining 52% of the votes in a four-horse race... Thumbs Up
