The way things have shaped up I think this weekend is a weekend of monster clashes, and a chance for Nottingham to get a solid win

Ampthill (5) vs (2) Richmond - Mond played really well last weekend but Ampthill are very tricky home advantage given

Doncaster (5) vs (1) Hartpury - this is going to be another tight fought battle for the Knights but we break away in the last 10 minutes

Bedford (4) vs (1) Cornish - Bedford found their Mojo last weekend and will battle out a win

Jersey (5) vs (2) Ealing - clash of the weekend Jersey to nick it at the death

London Scottish (1) vs (5) Nottingham - Nottingham to pull the rabbit out of the hat

Onward and Upwards C'mon Donny!

Ampthill 4-1 Richmond. A clash of two hugely improving sides in the Championship. Saturday could well be wet and windy so I think the home side will just get the win.
Doncaster 5-0 Hartpury. Doncaster will be keen to keep the pressure on Ealing, and again the weather might be in their favour.
Bedford 0-4 Cornish Pirates. So many times a side will do well one Saturday and then lose the plot again the following Saturday. The Pirates to grind out a win.
Jersey 1-4 Ealing. I just think Ealing will bounce back after last week. But hey, this could go any way. I would love to be there to watch it.
London Scottish 3-3 Nottingham. Going for a draw is a very brave prediction.

Looks like another storm due to blow in that day which may suit the home team. I hope to make the long journey South from St Ouen to St Peter for this one but I bet they would get a good few takers if they stream it live.

Doncaster vs Hartpury 5-1 - There is a real opportunity for Donny this year

Ampthill (5) vs (0) Richmond - Home field and Richmond spent up a lot of energy last week

Doncaster (4) vs (1) Hartpury - tight battle

Bedford (1) vs (4) Pirates - Bedford "after the lord mayor's show"?

Jersey (0) vs (5) Ealing - I imagine it was a wake up call for Ealing and fully focussed this week on the game in front of them not the games coming up

London Scottish (2) vs (5) Nottingham - Could go either way

Doncaster 5 - 1 Hartpury

Bedford is probably Pirates toughest away game from a travel point of view.

It might not look as far as Donny or similar, but coming from the far South West its either a crawl on dubious A roads from Swindon via Milton Keynes or the lottery of the M25.

A long slow & tedious journey unless all the planets align

Got to agree on the roads situation Geoff - Donny does sit comfortably on the motorway network so it is readily accessible from all points in the country (as is their rail and air options)

I agree, on several previous visits I've stayed on the M5 to the midlands and taken the M42, M6 and M1 to London leaving at exit 14 for Bedford, It might seem like an out of the way route, but it has been quicker and easier than the Swindon/Oxford alternative

Ampthill vs Richmond.  Mond on fine form so 1-4

Doncaster vs Hartpury Donnie to win 5-1

Bedford vs Cornish who can make Bedford out 1-4

Jersey vs Ealing  Ealing have to win 1-5

London Scottish vs Nottingham  4-1 a first for me

Jersey vs Ealing hardest to predict bonus 5 for exact result

Who can even begin to predict this league anymore?!.
Predictions:
Ampthill v Richmond - 4-1 (home advantage)
Doncaster v Hartpury - 5-1 (Donny will be pushed hard by a good Hartpury team)
Bedford v Cornish Pirates - 1-5 (Just think the effort put in by Blues at Ealing will catch up with them)
Jersey v Ealing - 4-1 (a mega-fixture)
London Scottish v Nottingham - 2-5 (High-scoring thriller, Notts the better team)

Guy was injured for a couple of months & then working his way back to fitness. He's reached the stage where he's available for selection, but was not chosen this week in what's quite a competitive position, with 7 decent players, or 8 including Macauley Cook who's sometimes played at blindside... See below from today's JEP...

Thompson is among those left out of Biljon’s matchday 23 this week, following a difficult selection meeting.
‘I don’t know how Jack Roberts isn’t in the team, I don’t know how Harry Simmons isn’t in the team; Wes White, Guy Thompson ... it has been a very tough selection. One of the toughest,’ Biljon admitted.

Ampthill 4 vs Richmond 1 … Two very competitive sides which have improved which have improved massively over the past couple of seasons. Anyone's game this, but will go for home advantage.

Doncaster 5 vs Hartpury 1 … You just don't know what you are going to get with Hartpury, but Knights at home this season have been superb. The Hartpury backs to run in a few tries, but their defence will buckle.

Bedford 1 vs Cornish 4 … The storm will not suit The Blues at all. Pirates to grind this one out in a tense game.

Jersey 4 vs Ealing 1 … Wow!, what a game this is after Ealing's loss last weekend. They arrived a day early, so clearly mean business, but Jersey will be up for this as well. A force 7 blowing straight down the ground will stop the game from being a try fest, but will only add to the drama.

London Scottish 5 vs Nottingham 2 … Another great match up with the 2 basement sides meeting up. I think that this will be high scoring and will go for the home team in a game that could go down to the last play.

Good luck everyone and safe travels. Take it easy on those roads.

Amps 1-4 Mond Two really well matched teams. Amps home advantage but Mond overdue a win so I go with them.
Donny 5-2 Pury A must BP win for Donny - no pressure lads
Blues 4-2 Pirates Home team to win by a handful of points but Pirates score 4 tries
Jersey 4-1 Ealing With a F7 gale from St Ouen's Bay a definite game of two halves, with lineouts a total lottery. Woof Woof I hope Jersey just edge it by a single point but still think Ealing will win the league by 10 clear points.
Scottish 4-1 Nottingham Could go either way - two decent and improving sides.

Ampthill 4  Richmond 1 - Richmond in a rare vein of form, but Ampthill too tough at home.
Doncaster 5  Hartpury 0 - Doncaster are doing everything in their power to win promotion, and I can't see this as a banana skin, but I was totally wrong about Bedford last weekend.
Bedford 4  Cornish 1 - A very long trip for Pirates, and Beford to continuing riding the high from last weekend's well-earned scalp.
Jersey 1  Ealing 5 - Everything I hear out of the Ealing camp tells me that the lads have had a fire lit under them this week, and the selection appears to be the absolute A team.
London Scottish 1  Nottingham 4 - Nottingham much better than Scottish.

Ealing team to play Jersey tomorrow - This is almost exactly the 'A' team for Ealing, and I suspect that they run out something like this the rest of the way after last weekend's debacle. I'd prefer Malton at Hooker, and maybe O'Connor at 6, although he is still getting up to speed. No room for another slip up.

1. Will Davis

2. Jan-Henning Campher

3. Lewis Thiede

4. Bobby De Wee

5. James Cannon

6. Max Northcote-Green

7. Simon Uzokwe

8. Rayn Smid

9. Craig Hampson

10. Craig Willis

11. Angus Kernohan

12. Pat Howard

13. Max Bodilly

14. Luke Daniels

15. David Johnston

Low tide just before kickoff but wind strong and increasing from SW which is up the slope.

Should be a cracking old fashioned game of 8/9 man rugby on a soft heavy pitch. Pity the back 3 catching a wet ball in that wind. If a side is mauling in the corner let them have 5 and expect a missed conv. Do not give pen try away and lose a man for 10 mins.
Conditions can be a great leveler. Woof Woof

Saw a load of the Ealing players in town this morning enjoying a beautiful pre-spring morning. Hopefully this will lull them into a false sense of security as the forecast this afternoon is not so generous.
I’m expecting Ealing to explode out of the blocks and if Jersey can withstand the onslaught it could be a very tight game.

After a cracking first half in awful conditions Jersey had their chance of pinching this one but Ealing were better than excellent second half,  totally dominated play into the wind and imo fully deserved the win. You can focus on Jersey errors in the second half but I give credit to Ealing for a dominant performance.

Dear me. Losing two of our own line outs, and no points to show for an afternoon.

However considering Ealing and Pirates are two of the contenders this year, the final result could have been worse.

Unbelievable though, that too avoid Englands game 12 March, this was Bedfords last Saturday home game as far as the league goes.

9 weeks until the Cup game and only a Friday night match 11th March the only game in between.

Hopefully next season we stop (or have less of) the breaks, and allow supporters to develop the habit of going to a game.

Perfectly summed up, fair play to Ealing in the 2nd half, that could have been tough but they controlled it superbly from the 41st minute.  Great entertainment from both sides.  Good luck Ealing.

Yes Ealing controlled the second half really well, the conditions may have eased a fraction but they just squeezed the Reds, forced errors/penalties and racked up three more scores (3-7-3) to move clear. On another day the Reds might have grabbed a BP but anything more would have been a steal.

Another cracking w/e in prospect next time with Knights at Vallis Way on Sat and Reds at the Mennaye the following day... finishing positions won't be decided, but they may become a little clearer.

Absurd game management from Bedford Blues.  3 points for the taking to go 5 points up near the death and they elect for 5 metre line out, when their line out had been dire all match.  A try bonus point was not on offer.  Stupid decision.  Well played Pirates, good solid play.

Bedford had their chances to win this game (deservedly too, in my mind). Pirates capitalised on Bedford’s errors and took the points when needed. A good, competitive game of rugby play d in difficult conditions.
What a delight to have good travelling support making a lot of noise for the Pirates. The atmosphere was great fun and good spirited. Such a shame that few sides have any travelling support (and, indeed, home support in some cases).

In horrible conditions a really good game at St Peter. Ealing forwards and midfield in the second half a class act and incredible work rate. Quality travelling support who backed their team heartily throughout - enjoy tonight lads your team and you earned it.

Hard one to swallow at GR today, controlled the game with great defence in poor conditions while having little possession, murdered 2 tries that were easier to score than not in the 2nd half.
As already has been said, kicked to touch for our far from solid line out when we should have taken the 3, going 5 points up with 10 to play, Pirates turning it over gave them the momentum to go down the other end and score.
Good game management and simple thinking should have won us the game.
Fair play to CP, they took their opportunity, but that loss will grate for a while. ☹️
Still a much improved performance and with some real gutsy, down in the dirt, blood and sweat play from the boys that really got under CP’s fingernails. It got very niggily I think their yellow card was for backchat.
Should have, could have won, but didn’t let’s hope we all learn from it.

What we learn and when not sure. But thus season is relegation free, thank goodness.

Next season we need to really drill the squad on basics of game management. Last season, and this, maybe too many young players not thinking and getting yellow cards.
Sadly, our budget I feel is not covering for experienced players, and it’s okay saying the team is young. But unless we keep some of those players, don’t we end up each season with another crop of young players yet we don’t see end product?

Hhhhmmmmm……. You know, to win a league you need a huge amount of skill/ability and a bit of luck thrown in and I think that Ealing got a blast of both today.
A game of 2 halves…. Absolutely!
1st half the Jersey defense was magnificent, along with the Ealing kicking from the No.10.
To turn around 10-9 up against horrendous conditions was just inspired.
However, something happened as the players came out for the 2nd half….. the rain stopped…. Nice for those watching, but more importantly the wind virtually disappeared…. Not quite, but enough to make the 2nd half a more even affair which Ealing to their eternal credit, took full advantage of. They were pretty good in the 2nd half to be fair.
Cold, wet, but totally entertained

Not quite, but enough to make the 2nd half a more even affair which Ealing to their eternal credit, took full advantage of. They were pretty good in the 2nd half to be fair.
Cold, wet, but totally entertained
The really big moment in the match happened right at the start of the second half when the Jersey back hit a huge clearing kick from his own 22 which was heading into touch about five metres from the visitors line opposite the Pavilion when it took a crazy bounce which made the ball go forward and ran out of play behind the Ealing line. Instead of an attacking lineout 5 metres out from the visitors line Jersey ended up conceding a scrum penalty in front of their own posts and the wind eased and Ealing never looked back. The other big moment was probably the fracas involving the Ealing Flanker which I thought the referee handled well enough and if I'm wrong the post match videos will sort it out. The big moments tend to favour the teams who work the hardest.

Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

Luck definitely plays a part, but the never say die attitude of Donny (who have won the last two games right at the death) and Pirates at Bedford yesterday often means winning games that could/should have been lost.

Ah yes, the Ealing flanker. From where we were standing it looked as though he he took one of the Jersey players out from the fringe of the maul and once on the floor appeared to throw a punch. Admittedly, we were behind the posts at the garden centre end, so I would happily be put right by anyone who was closer. Nevertheless, I agree that the ref handled it well.

I was really impressed with Ealing's decision making, especially from Craig Willis. Going for the posts to build score instead of automatically kicking to the corner was both brave in the wind, and was the difference in the scoreline at the end. Ealing defense was excellent as well, with one of the two scores being an intercept. Sets up a massive game with Doncaster this weekend.

I was at the game in Jersey on Saturday and in my opinion luck had nothing to do with the result . Jersey were against the wind and Ealing had the majority of ball. The Jersey defence was outstanding and stopped the attack at the gain line and several times knocked the big guns back .
First half I watched from the clubhouse side , mid pitch. I chose to watch the second half from the end of the pitch in the far corner facing the extreme wind and driving rain conditions.
In my opinion the Ealing team played their best half of rugby I have ever seen. luck had nothing to do with it

Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.

Good to see you briefly pre-match No7, hope the rest of your trip went well. Agree that Ealing played superbly after the break and were deserved winners. This was, in my opinion, accompanied by a couple of slices of fortune: the 41st-minute clearance kick by Mitchell landed exactly where he'd have wanted it to & could well have bounced to the left of the corner flag and set up 5m attacking lineout, as referred to above, but it went the other way, with an 80m swing + loss of possession; and soon after that the wind did die down a bit. I'd like to think those factors could be recognised while at the same time repeating my earlier congratulations to the better side over the 80 and making clear my view that these moments weren't what caused the visitors to win.
