Injuries and suspensions beginning to take their toll on the squad, but looking at the veterans side to play Guernsey tomorrow, there are some good options to choose from there should we need them for next weekend

Odd call. Jersey player Longwell? returns to pitch after much longer than a 15 minute HIA period. Anyone know what regulation permits this?

Cup Rules-   Rolling Subs with 12 interchanges allowed

The original squad size of 20 was expanded to 23 when some clubs complained a few days before the 1st round

Ealing team to face Pirates tomorrow at 1500. No changes in the starting 15, a few swaps in the latter half of the subs. I think that this team is fine at Vallis Way, even missing half a dozen nailed on starters from the regular season.

1. Kyle Whyte

2. Cam Terry

3. George Davis

4. David O’Connor

5. Barney Maddison (C)

6. Gary Porter

7. Harry Dugmore

8. Jack Digby

9. Jordan Burns

10. Steven Shingler

11. James Cordy-Redden

12. James Little

13. Reuben Bird-Tulloch

14. Charlie Walker

15. David Johnston

Replacements -

16. Morgan Veness

17. James Gibbons

18. Jimmy Roots

19. James Cannon

20. Len Massyn

21. Stephen Kerins

22. Craig Willis

23. Matt Gordon

They have always had a quality squad and last night they got enough of them on the field and deservedly won. Great Cov defence particularly against the Jersey maul which has been strong all year and the front row was awesome. Well played Cov you can win the final if you play like that.

Ealing 5 - Pirates 0 11'. Rolling maul after lots of back and forth.

Ealing 5 - Pirates 7 - Ealing yellow carded for killing  a break by laying on the wrong side of the ruck. Pirates strike immediately. 21'.

Ealing 12 - Pirates 7 27' - Pirates carded and Ealing maul over from the penalty

Ealing 19 - Pirates 7 Beautiful break from a scrum to go 50m. Johnson dots down in the corner. Ealing have piped in cheering on the tannoy, an abomination. 38'.

Ealing 26- Pirates 7 - Burns squirts through from about 20m to dot down. HT

I don’t understand. Why if pirates win are they away at cov, even though they finished above them in the table? Why did Ealing get a bye and home games every round in the competition? Coventry would draw a big crowd for the final and could actually do with the additional revenue, why play the game in front of 500 people at a club who don’t rely on match day revenue? I don’t understand the logic at all in determining who gets to play at home in the knockouts, other then the rule of Ealing are guaranteed home ties.

@Bluesman11 - you've completely missed the fact that this is a competition that the RFU have organised.

Someone said it was due to Pirates progressing as 'losers' and Cov winning their 'group' stage, but don't quote me on it.

Bluesman.
A source tells me it is because Cornish Pirates progressed from the first round as a losing team, whereas Coventry progressed as a winning team.

I'd say 300, certainly not impressive. Ealing 29 - Pirates 14. Ealing get the penalty and Pirates hit back with a try after gettting the ball deep in Ealing territory courtesy of a  forward pass. Nice conversion. 47'

Ealing 29 - Pirates 21 - Ealing commit 3 infringements to put Pirates in their 22, Pirates power over. Ealing look asleep. Lovely conversion again.

I don’t understand why league position determines who gets home draws. Why not just do a draw? That’s like Liverpool/Man City being guaranteed home draws for the entirety of the FA cup. Just heavily weights the cup, which is unrelated to the league, in favour of the teams who already have proven they have more resources. What a farce.

Ealing 36 - Pirates 21 - Ealing won a scrum penalty off of a Pirates feedin, then Charlie Walker scored in the corner after a few more short range penalties.61'.

Sir just missed maybe the most egregious side entey I've seen this season, with the Pirates player basically going around the ruck to smash our scrum half. I believe the line judge spotted it.

Perhaps moaning about previous rounds of the cup by people whose teams are out of the cup would be better in a different thread, rather than in one tracking a semi final which is of direct interest to three clubs minute by minute.

Ealing 36 -  Pirates 28 - Pirates score from a beautiful set play, bamboozling the Ealing defense. 74'

Just out of curiosity, how was the 247 stream on Saturday? Did anyone here avail themselves of it?

It was pretty good. The commentators, however, seemed more interested in chatting about hairstyles etc than concentrating on the game. They weren't on top of replacements etc.
Pirates acquitted themselves well, with a pack of average age of 22 yrs they stuck in and battled to the end. The two tries just before half time (basically two missed tackles) left them too far behind, but we love the never-say-die attitude of the team and quite a few have already committed for next season.
