Because I messed up, whilst watching the Bristol match

Wasn’t even 1 try… it was 2, so not sure where 1 came from… I think I thought they deserved if for a comeback with 13 players!

Sadly they won't but they deserved at least one. Pirates push the offside, maul & scrum laws to the limit, and beyond which cost them tonight but in horrible conditions it was a brilliantly competitive Championship rugby match. Pirates No8 had a magnificent game despite his yellow card but Jersey forwards were exceptional. Easily the best match I have seen so far this season.

Really tough game tonight at Stade Santander.  Strong winds and rain blowing down the pitch throughout.  Pirates defended superbly in the first half to foil attack after attack, but attrition eventually paid off with two penalty tries purely from the pressure.  In the second half Pirates came out of the blocks fast and scored quick tries and it looked like they were certainly playing the conditions better, but Jersey managed to stabilise.  Key moment just after the Jersey yellow under pressure where Jersey got a turnover and were able to clear the danger.  A few minutes later a clearance kick from the Pirates own goal area went the full length of the pitch and dead.  Resulting scrum from 5m out Jersey managed to force another penalty try.  Pirates really unlucky not to get anything from the game but Jersey showed resilience under huge pressure and were able to secure the win.

Ealing Team to face Coventry:

Strong side. Tizzano looked great last week, and I would have expected him over Farrar. Good to see Malton back after the line out struggled mightily.

12. Reuben Bird-Tulloch

11. Luke Daniels

10. Craig Willis

9. Craig Hampson

2. Shaun Malton

3. Lewis Thiede

5. Simon Linsell

6. Rob Farrar

7. Simon Uzokwe

8. Rayn Smid (C)

Replacements:

16. Cam Terry

17. James Gibbons

18. Jimmy Roots

19. Barney Maddison

I was at the Reds game in an off-duty capacity (for 1st time ever that I can recall, at home). I agree with summaries above by CC & IIHTY. YC count was 1-4

Blues went down the slope 1st half

HT Blues (BP) 38-5 (1 try) Caldy

6 tries from Blues and a couple of yellows! 2nd was incredibly harsh.

Caldy defence is leaky and look like they are already tiring. I’m attack they’ve had a couple of mauls and the beginning and end of the half.

Caldy didn’t give up, so probably deserved a bonus point but to say a couple of them were dubious would be an understatement but if the referee doesn’t spot the big knock on you play on and score it.

Blues lost the last 20 mins after 0 - 19

Not moaning at the referee, just stating a fact the referee missed them and the assistants should be there to help.

The game was already won at half time with 5 points so doesn’t matter to us, but those at the bottom of the table, the bonus points could be important.

And speaking about the bottom of the table, Ampthill’s season finally springs into action.

Bedford speed of movement was exceptional…. Got outside Caldy numerous times …. but Caldy rallied and played a good last 20 with more movement and threat to get the bonus point and respectability

Caldy will be pleased and rightly so, I have no doubt they will be a feature in the Championship for seasons to come . . . a northern Ampthill. Speaking of Ampthill all upwards from now on. As for Scottish I presume they are just hoping to have all the Quins back to win enough games to finish second bottom. . . but all does not seem well there. And Nottingham for a top four finish this season?

Run with it

Brilliant EVERY POINT COUNTS. Jersey got their first point away to Mighty Roth - I was there and shouting them on - and at the end of the season it kept them from Relegation. Keep the faith BE and if Easyjet is on time next Saturday see you at the match.

BE, Caldy just need to work on 2 things during training this week. Scrummaging and defending against the maul. I wouldn’t bother with anything else.

Discipline & Defense will keep Caldy from 12th place. Keep 15 on the pitch for the full 80 minutes and ensure your key players are not injured or suspended for key games. Every point is important.
