I have just been reading that there are now potentially 2 European spots with the Premiership down to 10, so perhaps Jersey and Ealing will be flying the flag for the Championship after all!

Jersey have already said they aren't interested in being in the Challenge Cup. It would be too expensive.

Presumably that could change if the offer to take up the place came with a wad of TV cash that covered the costs.

The bigger problem is sorting out the season, as Jersey would have to postpone Championship matches.

Ealing at Ellis Park. Now that would be just a rugby purists daydream. And a culture shock for Coetzee & co when they go to Trailfinders Sports Ground!

Andries Coetzee isn't getting much game time at fullback with younger Gianni Lombard regularly getting the nod

Writing this as Soccer plays its Champiions League.

Despite the competition (live and highlights) recent years being behind a pay wall, supporters of a Manchester club yearn to be champions.

What has rugby got a competition with teams from 6 nations.
A 7th nation, Georgia seems to not be interested, ready or been invited to send clubs to the event.

Wouldn’t it be (impossible) wonderful in my lifetime to see sides from Georgia, Germany, Spain compete at knockout stages of our European competition?

The older I get, the more the RFU leave me confused.

They play in the Supercup.

The 2022 supercup final can still be watched here

2 teams to be 'invited' to the challenge cup at a later date apparently. No clue who.

Wouldn't it be good to have a Championship XV invited plus the winners of the Super Cup.

It would still mess up the fixtures - I would think there is more chance of inviting 2 more teams from lower level countries which would have the potential to raise the profile of rugby in those countries (possibly even national teams?)

According to today's Rugby Paper, Jersey, Ealing, and Cov were blocked from applying by the RFU/PRL. Not sure how true that is, but if so, then despicable.

No, it didn't, but apparently that added to the fire, which led to the Champ clubs unanimously vetoing a 1 year extension of the PGA.
