Found by Gerg  , Ealing supporter. the planning application to increase seating to over 5,000

Just search Vallis Way

I notice the Ambulance match station position is now in a different corner. We have more than enough empty seats and even giving tickets away free of charge can not fill the existing seats in spite of having one of the largest mini`s and Youth sections in the country.

In my opinion the requirements are something that a club currently has to do to meet the minimum standards. Your club is doing what it needs to do to pass the audit, well done to them, yes there is the crowd numbers matter but that is another matter. I wish you well in your quest, if it’s not us then hopefully you guys get the chance to have a tilt at the top table.

I will add that, in opposition to what some folks believe, Ealing has packed out the stands on a few notable occasions, getting c. 3000 for their home league match vs. London Irish back in 2017 (which they lost on a last minute penalty), 4000+ for their cup final against Irish in 2019, and a sell out in the Championship playoff against Saracens (I think this was capped at 2000 due to Covid, but we could have sold capacity for that match without doubt). What I note about all of those are that they were derby games - similar to the way that the Bedford-Ampthill match brings a bumper crowd. On each of the preceding the crowds were at least 50% Ealing, regardless of what some might claim, as spectacle brings out the crowds as much as does a bit of local rivalry.

So, I've had a read of this, and what has been rejected is an application for Lawful Development. In other words, the application that they wouldn't need full planning permission. This was done on the basis that the stands would be temporary. I honestly think that they should appeal, as the decision seems highly flawed and ignores previous precedent (i.e. they had previously had temporary stands of just this sort erected, which were removed).

Having lived in Ealing for over 20 years, I'd guess that they didn't grease the right palms. I'm gobsmacked that a few temporary stands to be erected on land which is, by legal covenant, only allowed to be a sportsground, is being blocked when literally dozens of high rises that have hundreds of comments in opposition are routinely approved. Of course, the companies building those high rises have Ealing councillors on their boards...

I don't think you needed to convince anyone that those that govern us can be persuaded to give favours with the right encouragement. Peerage anyone? Who wants to start the bidding?
