Exactly. Just how many levels of authority do we need to correctly apply the rules of the game?
The powers that be have over complicated matters to such an extent tgat we now see decisions reconsidered again and again until we get the result we should have had in the first place. Those in authority should be ashamed.

Farrell's tackle was rubbish and he is now correctly banned but he doesn't deserve the media driven character assassination that he has been subjected to.

I defy anyone who has ever played the game to say that during their rugby career they never did anything bloody stupid and, if honest, did it probably more than once.

It was a poor tackle. It is not the end of the world and, it is not worthy of all of the publicity that has been 'deliberately' & 'maliciously' attached to it.

For me it was never a tackle.
It was a shoulder charge.

A fine player who plays on the edge.

He gets to come back against Chile and then get ready for Samoa.

Billy Vunipola to miss England Rugby World Cup opener after red card

Quote
Number eight Billy Vunipola will miss England's opening game of the World Cup with Argentina following his red card against Ireland.

He was shown a yellow card for a high challenge on Ireland's Andrew Porter on Saturday which was upgraded to a red.

Vunipola has been banned for three games but it can be reduced to two if he completes the World Rugby coaching programme on tackling.

I expect in the England camp they're building a nice sense of siege mentality to try and spring a surprise a la 2007.

If either Farrell or Vunipola been holding the ball a shoulder charge would be legal 🫤

Simmonds looked fine as a British lion.

Surprised borthwick (and Wigglesworth) left out Mitchell initially

Not noticed Spencer to be honest.

Courtney Lawes will captain England on his 100th cap in Saturday's match with Fiji at Twickenham, while hooker Theo Dan makes his first start.

Lawes, 34, lines up in the back row alongside Jack Willis and Ben Earl, who starts at number eight in the absence of the banned Billy Vunipola.

With Owen Farrell also suspended, George Ford is at fly-half.

Jonny May starts on the wing despite not being in the World Cup squad and Alex Mitchell is named at scrum-half.

...

England team to face Fiji: Steward; Malins, Lawrence, Tuilagi, May; Ford, Mitchell; Genge, Dan, Cole, Itoje, Chessum, Lawes (c), Willis, Earl.

Watson out confirmed:

Quote
England wing Anthony Watson has been ruled out of the Rugby World Cup in France with a calf injury.

England head coach Steve Borthwick says Watson picked up the injury during training and will be unavailable for a number of weeks.

No replacement has yet been named in Borthwick's 33-man squad but Jonny May is set to start on the wing against Fiji in Saturday's final warm-up match.

England begin their World Cup campaign against Argentina on 9 September.

Utility back Elliot Daly has a knee injury and is unavailable for this weekend but is expected to be fit for the World Cup, while wing Henry Arundell is recovering from a back spasm.

And so the warm up games are over for the Home Nations.  Things have gone from bad to worse for England  Samoa in their pool group should have beaten Ireland. Very physical and great turn of speed. Utilising their ex All Blacks and Wallabies very well
Scotland can be pleased with their warm ups. So 2 weeks to go
South Africa were brilliant and look likely to retain the Cup

The half empty stadium will accelerate change at the RFU. They need the money that a full stadium contributes to fund their lifestyles and the lifestyles of their entitled mates in the premiership so change will come.
