It is Caldy v Sedgley Park at Paton Field on Saturday with a 2.15 p.m. kick off

The last time the two sides met at Paton Field was 29 April 2017 in a thrilling high scoring tussle the visitors squeaked the win 34-35 but the match was memorable for more than just the excellence of the rugby

I am looking forward to Saturday's game where hopefully no one's goose will be cooked. Sedge did the double over Caldy in the 2016/7 season when no other team could get close.

Somehow Sedge always manage to pull the stops out against Caldy whether it is the little magician Steven Collins or the power of the Sedge pack and midfield.

It should be a good day for everyone with two good teams going hard at it. There are still a lot of permutations. Hinckley are coming on really strongly and any one of four could end up on top of the pile.

Caldy have probably the hardest run in out of the top 4 with February looking super difficult  Sedge/Fylde/Sedge..........if Caldy lose two or three of those games it will all be up in the air............Hinckley as the final game could be a nerve jangler

Goose still a no show at training to-night.

Everybody at Park Lane is looking forward to renewing our battle with the Ravers and hoping that history repeats itself.

I am glad you said the Ravers Skalpy. Hull called Caldy the Ravens which is taking the orthinological metaphors too far however between now and Saturday there are bound to be lots of Goose references;

Goose down
Goose fat
Goose green
Goosey Goosey gander

I am sure it will be a common theme. However, if Big Derek Salisbury thinks there will be geese around this weekend he may be packing his shotgun rather than his hip flask.

In Caldy's promotion season of 2016/17 Caldy lost their first game of the season and their last game of the season and were unbeaten in between with 27 wins and 1 draw. Of course you know both the losses were to Sedge!

Sedge will come to Paton Field with a lot of belief and a lot to play for. Caldy are on a terrific run but they can be derailed by both Sedge and Fylde. Both 1st and 2nd spots are very much in play for Sedge.

As a personal favour to me could you organise someone to give Steve Collins a holiday for this weekend........his trickery, penalties and drop goals are likely to spoil the atmosphere at Paton Field. Anyway I don't know why he is called Piggy but if it is because he has Swine Flu he should check himself in to Arrowe Park Hospital on his way to Paton Field so they can keep him in isolation for the next few weeks

I think the clue to it not being about LIWG was 'Big Eddie' started the thread - a well known Caldy contributor

BE,

Goose has not made the final 20.

I also have  to confirm, that after extensive tests performed by our centre 'Doc' Holloway ( he is really a qualified doctor) that Piggy shows no signs of swine flu and will be trying his best to to make your afternoon as miserable as possible. But don't forget your club motto ...... WOLWOTB.

Skalpy,

Paton Field is looking forward to welcoming all of you, including Piggy but I do realise that things may look a lot different shortly after 4 p.m.

Any geese that land on Paton Field are likley to be blown across Wirral to Birkenhead or Liverpool such is the breeze.

Caldy's Head Coach has recognised Piggy's brilliance in his match preview and we will hope that we can keep him contained for the afternoon. Caldy's motto of WOLWAOTB means more to us then mere league points so if we lose we will suck it up and carry on as normal.

Have a safe trip across. Looking forward to catching up with Bushy and Allan

The Local RSPB from Burton Marches have advised us that we are to expect a fly over from the local geese population in memory of their rugby playing ancestor . So keep a watch on the sky during the game and you will see them in a V formation travelling North to Martin Mere.
